Running Blog: NIT First Round Lobos vs. Utah Valley

The Lobos (22-11) open thier post season as they host Utah Valley University (25-8). This is the first post season game for the Lobos since 2014 when they lost to Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It will be interesting to see how the Lobos come out to start this game, we already saw the 1 seed Rutgers lose in the first round. This is a running blog and will be updating as the game happens.

Usual Starters for the Lobos: House, Mashburn Jr., Johnson, Allick, Udeze.

14:35 1H: UVU 9 Lobos 8. After a slow start the Lobos have started to find their footing on offense with good passing. The Lobos will have to navigate the size that UVU has, and look to run whenever they are able. Udeze, Johnson, Allick, and House have all scored for the Lobos. Udeze will have 2 FT’s after the TO.

11:58 1H: UVU 14 Lobos 12. UVU will have a FT after the TO. This is how UVU wanted this game to be played.

7:59 1H: UVU 22 Lobos 16. Jenkins will have 2 FT’s after the TO. Lobos haven’t been able to get their offense going, they will need to hit some outside shots to open things up. Mashburn Jr. is 0-4 and hasn’t been able to get a good look so far tonight.

3:56 1H: UVU 38 Lobos 25. Lobos are sleep walking through the motions in the first 16 minutes of this game. I know it’s hard not to be in the NCAA Tournament after it looked like it was going to happen for a good chunk of the season. But, if you aren’t going to show up why are you even playing?

Halftime: UVU 46 Lobos 33. Dent and Udeze played well for the Lobos in the first half, but that was about it. Mashburn was a no show in the first half, and his man went off for 20 first half points. For the third straight game the Lobos have had a player go for 20+ in the first half.

16:11 2H: UVU 55 Lobos 37. Looks like this game is over. Lobos didn’t show up to play which is very disappointing to see.
